Meet Our Coaches

The BC./Yukon Canada's Chapter's Team In Training® (TNT) coaches are certified, experienced and dedicated.  As you train for your endurance event, they will guide and encourage you, helping you to achieve or exceed your goals.  Read on to learn more about the coaches.

Angela James, Vancouver Run Coach

I became involved with Team In Training® in May 2003 as a participant.  The rest is history!  I enjoyed being a member of the team so much in fact that I immediately signed up to coach for the next season.  I will work hard to help you meet your training goals and I will be a very enthusiastic supporter. Together we will continue to make strides in the ultimate race by raising funds for the cause.

Bee-Jay Moyer, Vancouver Run Coach

It was after completing the Vancouver Marathon that I noticed all those purple shirts.  After returning home I decided to find out more about this group.  I became a TNT participant and shortly after, a Coach.  Knowing many people that had battled with Leukemia and Lymphoma, I felt that it was my chance to help find a cure for these diseases.

Bill Kipper, Vancouver Cycle Coach

I have been an endurance cyclist for nearly 30 years and have been in the saddle for 50 Century rides.  In 2008, I answered the call to join TNT and raise money to fight blood cancers while training for a century ride.  The entire experience was so positive that I happily accepted the invitation to become a TNT coach.  You can expect a committed, knowledgeable, and compassionate coach who will do everything in his power to ensure your training is thorough and that you and your bike are fully prepared for the rigors of a 100 mile ride.

Danika Adamthwaite, Vancouver Walk Coach

I first became involved with TNT in 2007, as a TNT participant for the Vancouver Marathon.  After running the half marathon, I decided to continue working with the Society and returned as a mentor for the next season. I travelled with the team to Maui, and also participated as a walker for the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco when I was pregnant with my second daughter.  Working with Team In Training has been so amazing.  Now, as a certified TNT walk coach, I am so happy to be even more involved!

Kristina Bangma, Triathlon Coach

I started racing triathlon 2 years ago and since then have raced in several sprints, many Olympic Distances including the World Cup and two Half Iron Mans.  My next personal challenge is to race the 2009 Canadian IronMan. Training and racing for Triathlon has been one of the best things I have ever done for myself.  Throughout my life I have raced in several different sports but never found the team support and friendships that training for a triathlon creates.

Michael Gotziaman, Vancouver Run Coach

I am an endurance runner and have been running marathons for the past eight years. I have completed six marathons, including Honolulu and San Francisco for Team In Training. I originally joined TNT to support by best friend and leukemia survivor and, of course, to run a marathon in beautiful Hawaii. Very soon, I found myself enjoying the company of my fellow teammates, and those associated, so much, I ended up becoming a mentor the following season and then a coach the next.  I received my TNT Run Certification in 2009.

Mike Gilhooly, Vancouver Cycle Coach

I have been a competitive cyclist for almost 20 years.  During this time, I have had many fulfilling experiences and met some exceptional people, but nothing compared to the energy, emotion and enthusiasm I witnessed at event weekend ... it was deeply moving.  As your coach, I look forward to helping you learn new skills, ahieve your goals, while at the same time finding a cure for blood cancers.  This will be an amazing journey.

Mike Wood, Vancouver Run Coach

I have been an endurance runner for five years and running marathons for the past three. I have completed seven marathons, including the past three Vancouver marathons, and numerous other half marathons and road races. I joined TNT in May 2008 as a participant to run the Maui marathon in September. I am thoroughly addicted to running and am really excited to share my experience and work with you to help your reach your goals.

Rhonda Bourne, Fraser Valley Run Coach

I joined TNT in May 2007. I have completed several half marathons, 8 full marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2005. The Vancouver Marathon was my qualifier for Boston and one of the most beautiful marathons I have ever run. I've been very impressed by the TNT organization and decided to devote my time to the cause and continue my involvement as your Run Coach here in the Fraser Valley.

Steph Aeichele, Fraser Valley Walk Coach

I joined TNT in May 2006 and I walked the Nike Women's Half Marathon.  I then became a mentor and trained with the Vancouver Walk Team to walk the half marathon at the Vancouver International Marathon May 6, 2007 and then again at the Maui Half Marathon on September 16, 2007.  I've been greatly moved by the power of this organization and have decided to devote more of my time to the cause and now continue my involvement as your Walk Coach here in the Fraser Valley.

Tam Chernenkoff Miller, Fraser Valley Run Coach

I have been a runner for the past 10 years, with a short hiatus to finish my education and have two children, and an endurance runner for the last two. My background is in Therapeutic Recreation and I have a passion for running and sharing my enthusiasm and experiences in the sport. I joined TNT in May 2008 with my own dreams and aspirations of completing the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco.  I was so greatly moved by my TNT experience and the passion and dedication of the staff and fellow participants that I decided to continue my involvement with the program by becoming the Run Coach for the Fraser Valley.
